The Moshe Rudner/Judy Balint piece reminded me of our Erev Shabbat with the Machlises in 2007. Tremendous doesn't adequately describe them.

Finally I know how to financially support them.

It was our first trip to Israel and we spent almost three weeks in the land.During our time there we crossed the path of Rabbi Mordechai and Henny Machlis not once but three times. After spending a wonderful shabbos in their home ...Rachel and I decided we needed to try and help this family some how. We saw how they touch so many people with their kindness, love and food.

During our flight home I was sitting next to a young man and I told him of the Machlis family and how we wanted to try and help them with feeding so many people. This young man was related to the Machlis' and he was able to get us in touch with them.

This was not by chance...but by design!!!

How can anyone

Thank you so much for your generous hospitality and for that wonderfull Shabat exerience in your home on Novemer 12! We were a small group of three Christian pigrims from Switzerland and Germany among your huge crowd of Shabat guests enjoying true Shabat peace and blessings in your home jammed with people. We enjoyed not only the delecious food but also your Jewish faith and wisdom that you shared with us. God bless you and your great family for ever for all that you do for your Jewish brothers and sisters and for your non-Jewish G´d loving fellow men from the gentiles alike!
Yours,
Wolfgang Schuler, frm Duisburg, Germany

I had the honor of sitting at your table in 2007 & will never forget the love & kindness that was demonstrated to all. The experience was life changing for me & moved me closer to my Hebraic Roots. May G-d continue to bless & keep you both
Shalom

Dear Rabbi and Mrs Machlis;
Shalom...
I came upon this wrticle on Aish and I am completely amazed by the beauty of your lives. I have, over the years been invited over to homes for Shabbos and have met many wonderful people, but on some cases I was not treated well becaus I am a ger and have always been part of the Masorti movement. I have approached some Rabbis to help me undergo Orthodox Conversion but most have sent me away.
I have been in bad health and have little money ever. In fact, I am now looking for work in TX and living with a cousin but I still daven and do whatever I can.
As soon as I get some work, I would like to send, at least a small donation to your cause and G-d willing I will soon visit yhe Holy City and meet you.
In the meantime, I beg of you only this...
Please pray for me and remember my mother Mary, whose repose was today... 11/11/2001.
Please keep up the good work and as I was brought up with the saying "G-d will always take care".
Thank you for the inspiration and I wish you many blessings...
Shalom Shalom
Joel Nathan Ross
